The Berkeley Haas MFE program is dedicated to amplifying the voices of aspiring and current women leaders in the fields of finance, data science, and technology.

We're committed to helping women launch and advance their careers, connecting them to a strong support network of alumni and industry partners, providing professional development workshops, and more. The MFE Program continually seeks ways to further the success and advancement of women in these quantitative fields and elevate women in leadership.

Yue Chen, BS 20, MFE 23, is the first-ever Chinese national to play on a NCAA Division 1 Women’s basketball team. Chen played center for the women’s team at Cal for five years before returning to China to play professionally for 18 months. Now, the pioneering athlete is back at Berkeley with sights on becoming a Triple Bear.

Scholarship & Fellowship Opportunities

Financial Women San Francisco (FWSF) Scholarship

We strongly encourage MFE women to apply for the Financial Women San Francisco Scholarship each year. The FWSF Scholarship Fund provides graduate scholarships to San Francisco Bay Area women pursuing careers in the fields of accounting, finance, and/or the financial services industry. Graduate students who are selected are awarded $15,000. Admitted MFE women are eligible to apply for the scholarship and are encouraged to apply for the scholarship early.


Correlation One Data Science for All/Women Fellowship

Correlation One Data Science for All/Women Fellowship is a unique fellowship program that is designed for PhD/Master’s women. Fellows will participate in a seven-week world-class technical training, professional development workshops, and mentorship from senior industry leaders. Fellows will also be connected to job opportunities from Employer Partners, with some of the top employers worldwide. Enrolled MFE women are eligible to apply for the fellowship. The application typically opens in April and closes end of May.

The Financial Engineering Student Association (FESA) is a Berkeley Haas Master of Financial Engineering student-led club. The mission of FESA is to build an inclusive and empowering community and to improve the MFE program experience for current and future classes. The FESA Women’s Chair work collaboratively with the MFE Program Office to develop programming and design initiatives to empower women in the cohort.
