Our Curriculum

The MFE fills an important industry need for professional training not met by either an MBA finance program or a PhD in finance. Haas MFE students take  courses focused on investments, financial markets, data science, deep learning and security valuation. Also covered are the numerical and simulation mathematics and computer technology commonly used in the industry.

With the added practical experience of a three-month internship and a comprehensive applied finance project, MFE graduates are ready to work as financial engineers in your firm.

Alexander Olson

Because the Berkeley Haas MFE Program is part of a business school, there is a real emphasis on practicality. We weren’t doing math for math’s sake; we were focused on how our analyses and theories would influence decisions and strategies in the real world."
