Statistics for Financial Engineers

Please note that the Statistics for Financial Engineers Course will be available online for students unable to attend in person.

Registration for the 2009 C++ course is closed. Registration for the 2010 preprogram course will open by November 2009.

The next preprogram course session will run from January-March 2010. A tentative schedule is posted below.

The Master's in Financial Engineering Program at the Haas School of business is offering a 21-hour course that gives students the statistics and probablity training necessary to understand the courses in the program. The course is recommended for those who need a refresher course in statistics.

The primary objectives are to prepare students for the statistics demands of the MFE program and to give finance professionals the necessary statistical tools for analyzing and modeling the behavior of financial data. This course will build on the introductory statistics topics covered in the Mathematial Foundations for Financial Engineering class.

Who Should Attend

Individuals interested in applying to the Haas Master's in Financial Engineering Program, those pursuing any statistical analysis in the business world, or those interested in seeing how statistical theory can be applied in "real life."

Prerequisites

None, although students should have taken university-level mathematics.

We will be sending you the location of the class via email for the in class option a few days prior to the first day of the course. For the on-line option we will email you the log in, the password and the web link a few days prior to the first day of the course. Course Fee and Registration

The course fee for the 2009 program was $1,325 ($1,125 for those admitted to the MFE program).
